    Mohsen Karami
    October 27 – 17 November, 2023

I am Mohsen Karami, designer and furniture maker. I started woodworking in 2016 under the name of Jangal and I am self-taught. Learning through online tutorials made me try different skills and styles of furniture making. During this time, in the design process I gradually realized that my main passion is searching for new forms. As I became more confident in applying construction techniques and using different textures and colors, I distanced myself from classic furniture and tried to see the limitations in design in a different way.
In past few years, I have collaborated with a number of art shops and concept stores, and I hope to have new experiences and possibilities.

Visual expression in the modern world and a few centuries before was mostly formed through maximum harmony and stability between components. In the contemporary world, the existing standards always become traditions, and by them collapsing, a new structure is formed.
My passion for postmodern theories and literature made me gradually search for playfulness and irregularity in design. My question was how I can see the function from the perspective of the form. To what extent the humor in choosing different components can be a reflection of the outside world. What I wanted was for the surprising elements to draw attention to different parts of the object. Gradually, in the designs, some bends replaced the straight lines, and in some, spots of colors screamed the complexity of the current world, Looking for a structure that transforms limitations into uniqueness as much as possible.
