Choice choice choice!
Such a familiar word carrying wide variety of meanings in social political systems. As wide as the life.Whether we like it or not, we are prisoners of choice on the daily basis from the moment we open our eyes in the morning to the moment we close our eyes at night. Not so varied choices that sometimes we’re desperate to choose the lesser of two evils. We’re well aware that these choices are not going to be enlightening, uplifting or even comforting. But there is no escape. Choosing a solution among aberrations is the one and only option before us.
In this show, the artist uses photos as a tool of choice, and the silent images in front of us represent our noisy lives. We’re faced with a set of closely related options. We observe. We see. A fallen leaf from the tree, a hand in the beam of light. From which angle? Which direction? Headless trees rising hands to the sky. From afar? Or close? Perhaps these mostly black and white images are representing choices more than objects or landscapes. Which one should we choose? To convey which feeling? Or to tell which truth? In this collection, the photographer is recklessly demonstrating us his choices, obsessions and fears. He locks his pure gaze on brutal contact sheets to invite the audience to participate in choosing. We are that audience and we are afraid of choosing as we are afraid of death and we have no other option as we have to live. Behind of the hidden words of these images, this meaning I choose, living and choosing is our fate.
