This collection has been formed over the past two years and is an attempt to gather old decorative paintings from various parts of the country. It is a curious thread among the images of forgotten worlds, where a depiction of oblivion is reproduced through the reinterpretation of decorative paintings. Our connection to the past and the role of memories in shaping our identity and life derive from the importance and value of our memories — as if by forgetting our moments, we lose a part of ourselves. We walk among our forgetfulness and forget again; as if every emergence has a requiem, and that requiem is forgetting. The emphasis of such an approach has been simultaneously on forgetting and remembering: many of us have faded visual memories of such paintings; paintings that were once very popular. In the works and presentation of this exhibition, changes have been made to align with the prevailing taste of today. While motivating the creation of new compositions in painting, the search for these paintings and finding them as items that many were eager to lose played a significant role in following up and continuing the work.
